Barbalite Technologies was formerly known as PGB Trading. It was established in 1987 by Percival Gammad Barba who is a member of the Filipino Inventors Society (FIS).
PGB Trading was engaged in the acquisition and sale of various types of merchandise such as barges, ships, trucks, motor vehicles, construction supplies and equipment. Among its satisfied clients included Philippine Long Distance Telephone Corp. (PLDT), Republic Biscuit Corporation (REBISCO), DMCI Construction, FF Cruz Construction Corporation, Petron Philippines Corporation, Chemical Industries of the Philippines, Inc, (CHEMPHIL), Pangasinan Merchant Marine Academy (PAMMA), Cruz and Arranz Construction Inc., Zesto Corporation, the Philippine National Police (PNP), among others.
Through the years, the company served its clients with excellence and it recently transformed into its present name, Barbalite Technologies, which is now focused on various high technology products such as conventional and solar-powered LED bulbs, LED tunnel lights, LED projector lamps, AC/DC LED streetlights, Road Safety Devices and Solar-Powered Road Markers.
In addition, Barbalite Technologies is likewise engaged in designing and developing novel products and innovative gadgets. Among the designs and products that passed the rigid examination and testing by the Intellectual Property Office (IPO) which are now patented and copyrighted in the name of the company are the following: the Typhoon-Proof Billboard, the Floating Garbage Collector, the Portable Hot Tub and the latest is the Solar-Powered Road Marker.
The Barbalite Solar-Powered Road Marker is recognized by the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and the Intelectual Property Office (IPO) as an outstanding product and thus seen as having the potential to replace the existing traditional and conventional road markers presently installed nationwide. Because of this innovative product, Barbalite Technologies was bestowed the FILIPINNOVATION AWARD and PhP 100,000.00 cash prize for Technology-based Start-up Companies spearheaded by the DOST as the best nationwide in the Electronics Category. Barbalite Technologies was also awarded the BRITISH INVENTION AWARD GOLD MEDAL by the British Inventors Society in London, United Kingdom.
Barbalite Technologies is currently in partnership with L-Trend Optoelectronics and GreenPro Technology, Inc. of Taiwan and its branch in Indonesia for the mass production of Barbalite Solar-Powered Road Markers patented and copyrighted in the Philippines, not just for the Philippines but also for selected foreign markets. These foreign partners are ISO 9001 and 9002 certified and their products and services have been awarded the most coveted CE, IP, and SGS Certificates. Barbalite Technologies is one (1) of only six (6) companies and entities that they manufacture for. The other companies and entities are Osram, China Electric, Taiwan Military, Fiti and Solar Path.
